How do I release my ladybirds?Updated 3 months ago
We know it's sad to say goodbye, but after you have watched, studied, and shared the wonder of your ladybirds it's time to set them free.
Here's what to do:
- Release any ladybirds outdoors within 2-3 days of emergence. If some take a little longer to emerge please release the oldest first.
- Remove the lid of the viewing tub/the dome of the BugLand™ so your ladybirds can easily leave.
- Your ladybirds will be more likely to make your garden their home if you release them in the early morning.
- Try to release them near a food source like aphid infested plants, usually rose bushes and vegetable patches.
- Be sure the outside temperatures will reach above 12°C on release day
- Keep an eye out for your ladybird friends the next time you visit your garden!
